Grief & Trauma Therapy for Guilt, Betrayal, & Over-Responsibility

You’re the One Everyone Relies On… But Who Supports You?

EMDR, parts work, and somatic therapy to help you feel clear, steady, and like yourself again.

Virtual therapy in Texas, Colorado, Florida, and Virginia.

In-person 2026 Grief Intensive on Lake Michigan for adults anywhere.

You've handled so much.

You show up. You take care of what needs to be done. You keep things moving ~ maybe you always have.

From the outside, you look fine. Better than fine, probably.

But inside, it’s wearing you down. The grief that never got its turn. The guilt that doesn't respond to reassurance. The replaying that won't stop. The version of yourself you perform for certain people. The vigilance you can't turn off, even when you’re technically safe.

Pushing through isn't working anymore. And you can't out-think this one, you've tried.

Therapy can help you:

  • Fall asleep without replaying the conversation. Again.

  • Notice the guilt without letting it decide things

  • Say no without explaining yourself into exhaustion

  • Stop bracing around the people you love

  • Trust your own judgment again

  • Spend your energy on what you love instead of on managing everything else

This isn't about becoming someone new or fixing yourself. You’re not broken.

It's about feeling solid again. In your body, your relationships, and your decisions.

You're in the right place to begin.

What Are You Carrying?

I specialize in grief and trauma work for adults like you ~ capable, steady, and quietly worn down.

Complicated Grief & Traumatic Loss

Sudden death. Suicide. Overdose. Grieving an animal. Grief that lingers long after others expect you to be "back to normal."

When loss is shocking, unfinished, or tangled with guilt, your body may still be trying to process it. Therapy helps it settle.

Trauma & Survival Mode

You look functional. You keep showing up. But inside, you're bracing ~ stomach dropping, scanning, slightly (or very much!) on edge.

When the past still lives in your nervous system, therapy helps your body register that you're safe now, not back there.

Betrayal Trauma

Infidelity, deception, broken trust by a partner, or by the people who raised you.

When the person who hurt you was the person you trusted most, the healing is its own kind of work.

Emotionally Immature Parents

For the adult children: the ones who edit themselves around family, manage everyone's moods, and feel more themselves with strangers than with the people who raised them.

You can love them and still need this.

Guilt & Over-Responsibility

If you feel responsible for how everyone feels, question yourself after every boundary, and worry you were too much (or not enough), guilt might be running things.

Therapy helps you untangle what's truly yours from what never was.

Identity Loss & Major Transitions

Caregiving. Divorce. Diagnosis. Career shifts. Chronic illness. Even good change.

When the version of you that "worked" no longer fits, there's grief ~ even if no one else sees it. Therapy is space to mourn what was and move forward with steadiness instead of panic.

If you found yourself somewhere in that list, that's enough to start.

Carly, grief and trauma therapist, with dark hair smiling, wearing a white shirt and a cardigan, standing against a plain wall.

Hi, I’m Carly,

I’m an experienced grief and trauma therapist specializing in EMDR and somatic therapy for adults struggling with guilt, over responsibility, and betrayal. I’m not a boring therapist, I’ll help you get measurable progress… not just talk about it.

If you’re like me and my clients, you’re capable, smart, and not used to asking for support. Maybe you’ve spent years masking or putting everyone else first.

I know the feeling. When I was 20, I lost my brother to cancer. At 30, my dad died by suicide. I tried to white-knuckle it through, which led to even worse anxiety, serious guilt, lot’s of “I’m fine,” and ultimately, burnout.

Now, I’m proud to offer therapy to help you heal from the inside.

Ready to find some peace? I’m here to meet you with warmth, clarity, and tools that you can use for a better life, today.

Types of Therapy

Step 1:

Free Consultation

We’ll start with a 15-minute video consultation to talk openly about what’s been going on and what you want out of therapy. This is a low-pressure way for us to see if it feels like the right fit.

Step 2:

First Session

In our first session, we’ll slow things down and get a clear picture of what you’re carrying. We’ll begin identifying what feels stuck and what direction makes the most sense for you.

Step 3:

Continue Therapy

In therapy, we process trauma, hold grief, regulate your nervous system, and shift your patterns. You'll notice more internal harmony as you build a more secure life.
